Tools for the Journey

Practical guidance for returning citizens, the employers who hire them, and the families who support them.

For Returning Citizens

Your roadmap starts here

Whether you're preparing for release or already home, these are the first steps we walk through with every participant:

1. Get Your Documents

State ID, Social Security card, and birth certificate come first — nearly everything else depends on them. We help you plan this before Day One.

2. Connect With a Navigator

Call us at 302-507-1145. A reentry navigator will help you map benefits, transportation, housing, and next steps.

3. Explore Training & Education

The Rising Leaders Academy offers high-demand vocational training and direct enrollment pathways into postsecondary education.

4. Build Your Circle

Mentorship is the heart of our ecosystem. We match you with people who understand the journey and stay with you through it.

For Employers

Hiring justice-impacted talent, done right

Prepared Candidates

Academy graduates complete leadership development and vocational training before they reach your interview — and arrive with references from our team.

Ongoing Support

Our navigators stay engaged after the hire, supporting retention through the critical first months so your investment sticks.

Incentives & Guidance

We help you navigate available hiring incentives, such as the federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit and bonding programs, and build fair-chance hiring practices.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for the Rising Leaders Academy?
The academy serves justice-impacted individuals in Delaware — both those preparing for release (pre-release bridge) and those already home in the reintegration window. Contact us and a navigator will walk you through enrollment.
Is there a cost to participants?
Our services are provided at no cost to participants, funded by donors and partners who believe a job is the start — not the finish line.
How is The Heritage Ascent Group different from other reentry programs?
Most programs stop at job placement. Our continuum of care spans pre-release planning, an educational pipeline into postsecondary education, and post-release navigation — surrounded by mentorship, leadership training, and housing support. It's a wholeness-first model led by 30+ years of workforce and reentry experience.
Can family members get involved?
Yes. Families are a critical part of the ecosystem of wholeness. Reach out and we'll connect you with ways to support your loved one's journey — and resources for your own.
How can my organization partner with you?
We partner with employers, educational institutions, community organizations, and government agencies. Visit our Partner With Us page or call 302-507-1145 to start the conversation.
